My fiance/future-wife wants a “break”?
Me and my fiance have been engaged for a year and a half and been together for over three years, I’m 24 and she is 22. We love each other tons and have had rough spots in the past, and have spoken together about the fact that we probably got engaged too soon. She sent me a txt a few days ago saying we needed to talk. Basically she said she was freaked out and didn’t want to get married and also didn’t want to be in a relationship right now. She says there isn’t another guy (I believe her) but that she just needs time and space. I met with her to talk in person yesterday and basically told her I felt the undue pressure our engagement was placing on our relationship and that I would like to go back to just being in a committed relationship too so that we can grow together freely and naturally without the added pressure. Long(er) story short, I apologized for taking her for granted and for not giving her what it was that she needed. I told her that I haven’t been the best that I am capable of for her and that I hope she gives me a chance to show her what I’m capable of in the love and attention department. I didn’t think that we should just trash our relationship or each-other, when I look in this girls eyes I feel such a strong strong love and desire for her, I just couldn’t let her walk away…
SO: We decided to take some time apart and that we would both have some free space and I’m supposed to wait for her to call when she is ready. This was only yesterday and I’m feeling extremely depressed and lonely and really miss talking to her already.
Does anyone haver any advice for how I can continue to handle this? Does it sound like I’m handling this maturely? I’m extremely scared that some hot guy is going to sweep her off her feet during this time and that I’m going to get left out in the cold, she is extremely beautiful and the type of girl who just captivates a room. I know it is out of my control now but any reinforcement or words of wisdom from EXPERIENCED ADULTS would be very welcomed right now.
P.S. I was dead-set on communicating to her how much cared for her when we talked because I knew it may be last chance I got at truly explaining and showing how I feel. I did get her a nice silver chain from a jewelry store and asked her to take the ring off and put it on the chain then I placed it around her neck. I explained that the ring was putting to much pressure on her and that she deserved to be free of it since it was hurting us. I told her I wanted her to be able to wear it on her terms around her neck if she still wanted to feel close to the feeling that the ring resembles as fare as how devoted I am to her. She was crying and I was crying and it was an intense situation. I also gave her an opal bracelet and apologized for not doing more things to show her how special she is and that I thought she deserved so much more from me and that this little thing was just me wanting to communicate again how much I cared for her (my love language is gift-giving).
Am I a schmuck? I want to know that I did everything I could to save us but hope I didn’t look weak or pathetic or something. Truly, I was extremely weakened and still am, and am just kind of a mess about this whole thing. Thank you so much to anyone who replies to this in advance. At least you’re honest with her that you’re not ready. But I will give you some advice NEVER get engaged to someone because you’re lonely. If you do that, nine times out of ten you will be with someone who is not “the one” and will end up hurting the person you’re with eventually. And the clue is, the longer you wait (while holding on to her), the worse you WILL hurt her. I hope this helps.

Sorry you don’t wish to work hard and want everything to be given to you simply because you were born. That’s not the way it works.
If everyone were paid the same salary no matter what they did for a living, who exactly is going to do the hard, dangerous, or boring jobs? Would you rather be a secretary working 9-5, or a mine worker who goes underground in bad conditions and works odd shifts? Who is going to be a policeman if it pays the same as flipping burgers?

Could I have a future as an MMA fighter? (even an amatuer)?
I’ve long been a student of martial arts. But only recently have I been able to recieve any formal training… My cousin showed me some stuff in the past and I’d read some books too… I’m barely 18 years old, and I took about 9 months of Tae Kwan Do and earned my green belt earlier this year But I felt like it wasn’t going anywhere (too many forms, nothing practical in relation to self defense) so I dropped it… A couple months later I went to this jujitsu club (which was free compared to the expensive TKD) for probably not even a month and learned so much (basics of ground fighting mostly) but then lost connection with the dude that hooked me up with it in the 1st place. Now here I am 3 months later (having studied many YouTube Videos since and read a lot about BJJ techniques) and now I’ve taken up Hapkido which so far I really like… Do ya’ll think I could be a pro fighter? Or even just a local amateur fighter? Am I The right age to start training? Do i have the Right set of skills? Etc…… I’m only about 110 but Im built pretty well for an MMA fighter (thats what Ive been told) and I’ve got a lot of heart.
